Capstone Project: FIDO
Frequency Interrupt-driven Distance-based Object monitoring
The project utilizes BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) to create a geofence by comparing a mobile node’s RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) to an established baseline.
Capstone Project?
This project was for my capstone class where I and a team of other soon-to-graduate electrical engineers worked on a project that utilizes concepts from our education. The focus of the class was not to invent something new but to understand industry standards for collaboration and documentation during such a process.
Risk Analysis and Prototyping
We had to analyze the risks with starting this specific projects and understand how to tackle them
Work Breakdown Schedule
We had to breakdown the work that needed to be done and ensure that there was a reasonable timeline to get it done withing the class.
I wrote a lot of reports about the integration of software, firmware, and hardware and how we plan to understand how each part of the system would work well together.

Project Overview
There are 2 devices. One is stationary, and the other is battery-powered. Both are on the same PCB and can be interchanged between stationary or mobile nodes. If they moved far enough away from each other, one or both could set off an alarm.
This project involved designing a PCB with small surface mount components with wireless transmit capabilities, Bluetooth networks, and complex algorithms that handle the challenges of moving RF systems.
